Hotel Plaza Camaguey, Cuba. Built in 1907. Hotel Plaza Camaguey is directly across from the train station. The lobby has two welcoming bars; one is chilly with air-conditioning, while funky Bar Pergola has high ceilings, glowing green light from skylights, and slow-moving ceiling fans. The main restaurant, El Dorado, is, surprisingly, almost elegant.
Each of the 67 large rooms is different, with sizes and shapes determined by the structure of the building. Try to get a room with a private balcony on the north or west facing side of the building, although rooms on the interior, with views of the patio, are quieter than those facing the street. |
